Ernest Culp founded Bonsai Builder in 1989 and has become one of Silicon Valley’s finest builders. He started out in the building industry with 25 years of hands-on experience.

Quite simply, he builds homes because he loves construction and helping fulfill people’s dreams. He approaches each home the same way; with the mindset that it has to be built as close to perfect as is possible. It must be better built than the competition, and fulfill the goals and dreams of the customer as much as possible. These are some of the challenges that ignite his passion, and his success in achieving these goals has created a large percentage of repeat customers.

Ernest takes great pride in the attention to detail that he puts into every home. True quality is as much unseen as it is seen, from structural integrity to energy efficiency. He also knows that no one will be happy in a home that’s well built behind the walls, but doesn’t show the same precision in the finish-out. For this reason he limits the number of houses he will build at one time so he can be very involved at every phase of construction. He holds his subcontractors to a very high standard, and they know that. They know if it doesn’t look right, he won’t hesitate to make them redo it.
